Haha, I caught that line too, and laughed, Nina and Willow are nothing alike! Nina and Nelle sure were. Both Nelle and Willow had terrible childhoods, but Willow is a testament to overcoming tragedy with grace, and becoming better for the experience instead of dwelling on it and seeking revenge. Willow did advocate to Michael on Nina's behalf regarding Wiley for a long time, but then Nina just kept overstepping and going too far. That's saying a lot about Willow's character, and how much she loves Wiley over her own pride, considering how unpleasant Nina had always been to Willow. If anything, they are polar opposites. Have a great weekend too! Can't wait for Monday's episode already ;)

ReplyDeleteI'd light up if I ever met Lucy too, she is pure energy! I want to see how they handle Charlotte. I am glad it doesn't look like they're going to traumatize another child on the show with a fake parent death, that's been done too much recently (Spencer, Trina, possibly numerous others, e.g. is Hayden dead, Jason has died a million times, even Drew, etc.) and is definitely not one of my favorite kinds of storylines. I like it when kids have great relationships with their parents, lol. Victor deserves to feel some pain after what he did to Valentin though. Mr. Sheffield or no. :)

Somehow, everyone forgets about him and Ava’s past with him. He plays Dr. Hamilton Finn. Silas was murdered by Madeline, Nina’s mother, so she could inherit Nina’s fortune.

Not even Chase who got played by Nelle when she was a suspect in a murder. Willow was sweet and innocent but she turned into a bitch after getting with Michael. Not even Wylie who HAD to have gone through the terrible twos! 😀

ReplyDeletePretty sure nobody here is threatening the actress. Most of us just can't stand the character she plays. At least I hope we are all mature (and sane) enough to know the difference between reality and fiction (although there are a couple here who I might have my doubts about 🙄).
DeleteI haven't seen hate towards Cynthia Watros (Nancy Lee Grahn sure gets her fair share, tho, sheesh) but I've seen stuff like that happen in quite a few fandoms. One of the cons of social media gives people access to celebrities and they feel it's ok to cross lines they should never be able to cross.
DeleteHell, it's been going on since before social media. It's not unusual for some fans (who are probably already a little unhinged anyway) to not be able to separate play acting from reality. It happens to more than soap actors, too. I just think we're more aware of it now because of social media. But I can remember years ago Susan Lucci talking about fans confusing her with her fictional character.

DeleteThe awful comments about the child actors are the absolute WORSE. Little Violet and Leo are the biggest targets right now. Hard to believe there are some people with such ignorance and hate in their hearts to say the things about those two CHILDREN that have been said here. Same thing about Epiphany and being glad she died. Of course, I often think the people who say things like that are nothing but attention -seeking trolls who are just trying to get attention. Which is why I try really hard not to give them what they want by commenting. Either way, it takes a pretty sick mind.
Delete@Janis, you're 100% right. It's terrible, but unhinged people without a life have been attacking these actors forever and social media just gave them a bigger platform. I can't stand Nina, but respect the actress as a working woman...and most people who don't like the character are in the boat. We give too much attention to trolls.
DeleteWhoa, serious talk. :) Some of my favorite characters on the show are the "bad" ones (like Ava, Spencer, Ryan, Esme...) and I actually think they are the most talented actors/actresses! The ones that are written with real depth and/or acted just incredibly well (I'll never forget the scene where Ava grieves Kiki's death, simply stunning performance, especially acute after being so terrible to her daughter leading up to the death) are just as likeable to me, even when their characters drive me crazy. They make things interesting and make you think! Reflect on yourself and your own actions in real life. Most of us, when we mess up with people, feel bad about it and wish we had done better. And the people who play these roles we all can empathize with, that are really more difficult, should be lauded, not hated on in a personal way. Helena Cassadine (in all her incarnations) was a fabulous villainess, and I live with the hope that Maura West as Ava will take her place in GH history. Because Ava has teetered between pure evil & revenge, and her conscience & guilt for years. She could really go either way at any time, and is entirely unpredictable. She has real dimension and adaptability to her character, backed up with serious acting chops, that Nina lacks and I think that's the issue that people have with new Nina. I actually loved Michelle Stafford's crazy take on Nina for the same reasons I love Ava. But I have nothing against Cynthia Watros--she is super nice as a person and I think she is beautiful, she just needs the writers to give her more complexity as a "villain." Very few people can pull off bad behavior, but whiny, and that's her character's struggle. There is little remorse, accountability, or self-reflection with Nina, a whole lot of self-pity (justified or not) and that makes it hard to empathize with her, despite all the terrible things that have happened to her in life. It's rare to pull off a Heather or Ryan-type character that can be non-stop bad, with no apologies, who just make the show more interesting in their own eccentric way. Nina should be more complex than that, given her life experience. Nina/Sonny writing has been terrible (like Joss/Dex), and it makes their characters less likeable, but it doesn't mean we should necessarily hate on the actors. I actually get more frustrated with Maurice Benard, because Sonny used to be acted fabulously, even when his character was doing terrible things. He can do better, I think he's just been at this so long he's ready to be done. I hope they give him a really great storyline that he's excited about to send him off when he decides to retire.

Delete@JustLauGH I 100% agree with you. The writing for Nina is really what's super annoying (not the actress)... and the way the people in the town react to her. I am also an Ava converter and she completely earned her redemption story, and clawed her way to the top to being one of the best characters on the show. I have a feeling Esme is going to get an opportunity to do something similar. The comparison between Nina and Carly doesn't match for me, because everyone hasn't always forgiven Carly so easily. Carly spent many years being one of the most hated characters in PC. Back in the day whenever she was in a scene with another female character it always resulted into a fight, and her only friend was Jason. It took her a really long time to establish herself in the community and to build her family and her current relationships. Watching Nina get everything she wants after behaving so poorly is annoying to watch... and now she's even getting a daughter... and let's face it, Nina and Willow will be good in no time.
DeleteI could not agree with you more @QueenT, as much as people say Carly gets a pass, from watching her character for decades I can say most times she's really had to earn that forgiveness. This is the first time everyone around her is like, OK whatever, that's Carly, lol. And Willow is totally going to forgive Nina. And it's going to cause all sorts of problems... :)

Stafford's crazy-ass Nina could be likable even when she was kidnapping Ava and stealing the baby from her womb. With this actresses' version of Nina, it's all whiny all the time. She just doesn't have the same likability factor.
A story you all might appreciate:
The actress who played Nellie Olsen on "Little House on the Prairie" now does stand-up comedy once in a while. I saw her perform in NYC and she talked about how when she was a little girl playing Nellie, she was invited with others from the show to appear in the Rose Bowl Parade. She said it was traumatizing because the parade-goers threw soda and other things at her and called her names. I just felt crushed for her.
I grew up hating Nellie Olsen like everybody else in my grade school and probably every grade school across America. Full-stop HATING her as if she were a real person tormenting my friend Laura. But you have to be some special kind of cruel to be screaming hatred and throwing soda at a little girl in a parade.
Back to GH:
Absolutely love Violet, love her like I loved Robin. Can't relate to anyone who trashes kids the way I've seen done on here at times.
And for goodness sake, SPENCER is the best thing going. That actor is doing a killer job. Look forward to every scene he's in. Crazy awesome magnetic swagger to everything he says and does.
Oh, that's the saddest story! No one deserves to be treated badly for playing a role so well that you hate the character. There have been plenty of great villains in acting history, folks need to understand TV isn't real.

And I'm glad someone loves this Spencer as much as I do, he is the first time we've had a real Cassadine personality (like the world-dominating ones of old) since original Nikolas! I think Victor could get there if they gave him better lines/story, the actor is talented just needs more focus and menace. He has the chops to pull off the trademark Cassadine charm. Spencer already has those killer manners and swag that Nikolas used to win over Port Charles when he was introduced to save little sister Lulu's life way back in the day. Loved Tyler Christopher playing that torn and tormented teenager, in a constant rivalry with the likes of Luke Spencer. Now Spencer is the same. And like old Nikolas had Emily, Spencer has Trina. Adds to his inner struggle constantly, love to see it. Hope this actor sticks around for a long time. :)

If its just to get justice for Luke, I highly doubt Victor will ever fess up anything about Luke or anyone else. What am I missing here. Seems long drawn out for nothing.

The Nina and Ava relationship was actually a good idea, and I like how they're honest with each other and don't just say things to placate each other.
