ReplyDeleteI haven't watched this episode yet, but a few of us have been saying that for awhile. Personally, I think for some reason, he has an obsession with Trina, kidnaps her, and Spencer rescues her and they live happily ever after - or not. 😁

But in general I would say ...
The old GH writers came up with stories built on the characters. The people acted according to their values -- good, bad, mixed, whatever. But nothing that was completely counter to their established "character." They might change over time -- go from selfish fake-baby-bump husband stealer, to a caring mom and fabulously loyal friend like Maxie did -- but that would be part of the story arc, not some sudden flipped-light-switch of a change.
These new GH writers (who actually aren't so new anymore) just twist the characters into pretzels to serve storylines that don't make sense.
If a character acts decent and honorable -- a cop with no signs at all of being anything other than a nice guy -- he could suddenly be going around murdering people.
It's only believable that Rory is the hook killer because we no longer have come to expect any logic behind what the people do on this show.
I agree with you, Unknown42. The "old" GH writers would never have had Sonny desert his family.
DeleteYou've really nailed it Unknown 42. You can't just keep making characters act so outside of their established characters. They absolutely killed Sonny with this for me, Elizabeth too, she needs to decide who she is. Sweet and innocent or as conniving as the rest. She's one that the old writers took through a long and gradual and incredible change, from the time she arrived as a bad girl in Port Charles to the real relationships she built with Lucky and old Nicholas.
DeleteIt makes no sense for Rory to be the killer, with his big, sweet family gatherings, consistent conscientiousness to everyone, and grand and subtle gestures toward those he cares about. Let him be him. :( It would just be for shock and awe value. Nothing internally consistent.
